Energy Efficiency

Carrefour, Benteler, Mall Plaza or Repsol are some of the examples of organizations that already have an Energy Management System based on ISO 50001.

The ISO 50001 standard has aroused great interest because, having been designed by the world's leading energy experts, it offers enormous savings potential.

To the obvious economic motivation, we must add the recent transposition of the 2012/27/EU regulation on energy efficiency whereby large companies are obliged to undergo an energy audit, or else justify it and replace it with the implementation of an energy management system according to the standard ISO 50001 in which the performance of an energy audit is already considered.

There are currently almost 8,000 certified organizations worldwide, after growing by 116% in the last year. This standard has been incorporated by a wide variety of companies from all sectors, mainly large energy consumers, but also SMEs.

According to the latest annual report of the International Organization for Standardization(ISO), published last October, Spain is the second country in the world, behind Germany, in terms of the number of certificates in the ISO 50001 standard.
