So far we have talked about CAEs, types of actions to obtain them, actors involved in obtaining them and some of their benefits, but why is it time to bet on these certificates in your company?
Here are a few reasons (and no, it's not because they are fashionable 😎 -which they are-):
Alignment with regulations:
Yes, ensuring that our company is up to date with environmental regulations and the peace of mind that this entails is one of the most important reasons. In a context in which regulations are constantly being updated and emission reduction targets are constantly increasing (link to new PNIEC news), obtaining CAEs is an excellent way of complying with them and avoiding unnecessary penalties.
2. Reduction of the Carbon Footprint:
Did you know that according to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), the energy and industrial sectors in Spain are the main responsible for CO₂ emissions? Obtaining CAEs is a relatively simple and very useful tool to contribute to reduce emissions and achieve the goals set in the 2030 agenda.
3. Economic benefits:
Yes, let's not overlook the possibility that the CAEs ecosystem offers companies in this regard and through different channels. Specifically, in addition to the existing tax incentives for the adoption of renewable energies by companies (and their corresponding obtaining of CAEs), companies that generate a renewable surplus can transfer these surplus CAEs in specific markets, generating an extra source of income.
4. Access to new markets and business opportunities:
Many contracts, both public and private, already require that competing companies can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability through compliance with various criteria, and having CAEs helps to strengthen that commitment to sustainability. Likewise, having a strategy that prioritizes energy efficiency can expand your client portfolio and attract partners interested in generating new alliances and business opportunities.
5. Participation in the Circular Economy:
Beyond being an aspirational concept, the #circulareconomy is already a reality and the generation of CAEs by companies allows them to contribute to a sustainable supply chain, one of the key points towards a low-carbon economy, an objective that guarantees greater sustainability of the system.
6. Reputation:
Because... let's not overlook it, making the commitment to sustainability visible improves the reputation of companies, which translates into greater possibilities of attracting business, investment and, yes, talent, since more and more people are seeking to be professionally linked to projects that are in line with their interests and values. Generating and obtaining CAEs is an excellent vehicle for maintaining a good brand reputation.
7. Ability to adapt to change:
The current speed of changes in regulations, trends and market interests is increasing day by day. Keeping up to date with the context and needs is a must to ensure that your company can maintain standards and offer the best service. Applying actions that generate CAEs allows you to obtain benefits directly but also indirectly, as integrating an energy efficiency approach into your company's purpose will not only allow you to be less affected by changes, but also to take advantage of them.
Are these enough reasons for you? Don't miss the opportunity and jump on the CAEs train.
