Smarkia implements its energy management technology in more than 2,000 Mercadona operating points.

León, June 5,Smarkia, a company specialized in technological solutions for energy management and optimization through artificial intelligence (AI), collaborates withMercadona in a strategic project that already optimizes the energy consumption of more than 2,000 operating points in Spain and Portugal.

The project, which began more than two years ago, aims to increase Mercadona 's operational efficiency through a solution that monitors in real time the electricity, gas and water consumption of stores, logistics blocks, offices and beehives (warehouses exclusively for online sales), among others.

In addition, Smarkia s solution monitors more than 900 solar inverters and 600 self-consumption facilities, and evaluates the performance of a significant portion of the leading food distribution company's electric vehicle charging points.

To achieve this level of impact, the system was implemented in two phases: a first phase focused on data integration and centralization, automatically synchronizing Mercadona 's systems with the monitoring of energy consumption - electricity, water, gas and solar energy - and a second phase focused on automation and advanced analysis, which makes it possible to forecast consumption, detect anomalies and adjust contracted power without compromising operations.

Thanks to the predictive models that Smarkia's platform integrates, an accuracy of over 90% is achieved in the estimation of consumption, which makes it possible to anticipate deviations and proactively optimize consumption, translating into tangible results for Mercadona.

Mercadona assures that this project contributes to boosting its commitment to sustainability, with multiple measures (such as its Environmental Management System or the promotion of 'clean' energies) aimed at caring for the environment.

With this collaboration, Smarkia promotes smarter energy management at Mercadona and continues to evolve to meet the operational and strategic challenges of the largest distribution chain in Spain and one of the most important in Europe. The company thus consolidates its leadership in the retail sector with advanced solutions to operate in a more efficient, automated and sustainable way.
